Hormone Blockers

Before puberty, (with parental permission), young people who are diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria by a trained gender affirming therapist such as Dr. Patti, are referred for a consultation with a pediatric endocrinologist to discuss hormone blockers. 

"Blockers" put puberty on hold, giving young people a break from the physical changes associated with puberty. 

This gives the young person and their family a break from puberty.

For those Assigned Male At Birth (AMAB), Blockers can prevent 

• face or body hair
• formation of the Adam's Apple
• deepening of the voice

For those Assigned Female At Birth (AFAB), Blockers can prevent or stop the progression of  

• breasts
• periods
• body curves
